Help Moms: Donate Items from Ronald McDonald House Wishlist

May 1, 2017

Imagine learning that your child is ill and you will need to travel to a different city to receive the medical care they need. In the midst of your worst nightmare as a parent, you must now also leave your home, your job and your support system. This is the reality for more than 70 per cent of Canadian families with seriously ill or injured children.

This May, in "Mother's Day Month," help out Ronald McDonald House's moms by dropping off items from the wishlist (see below) at Trico Centre. All donations will be collected and delivered at the end of the month.

Donations can be dropped off at Guest Services. Thank you very much for helping!

Pink Shirt Day Wednesday, Feb 22

February 21, 2017

Pink Shirt Day is an international day to stop bullying (though it originated right here in Canada!) "The original event was organized by David Shepherd and Travis Price of Berwick, Nova Scotia, who in 2007 bought and distributed 50 pink shirts after male ninth grade student Jadrien Cota was bullied for wearing a pink shirt during the first day of school." (Wikipedia)

On Pink Shirt Day, we are all encouraged to wear a pink shirt to show our stance against bullying. The theme this year: "Through our campaign this year, we encourage everyone to “Make Nice”. We all have the capacity to be kind and compassionate, and our slogan acts as a friendly reminder that no matter what our differences, being nice is always a choice worth making."

Why not wear a pink shirt tomorrow and show your support. If you happen to be at Trico Centre, we invite you to put your #pinkshirtpromise - your promise to stop bullying, be kind and compassionate to others (and yourself) - on our roving bulletin board.
